Contemporary artist Valeri Cranston began her journey into art at the age of 7 in piano class. Bored with the lessons she began to draw on the sheet music. A call from the piano teacher to her mother soon got Valeri out of piano class and into an oil painting class. She immersed herself into all things art from that point forward.
 
Cranston graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She also earned an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences and worked in the healthcare profession with critically ill babies and children in Oklahoma and then Texas. Throughout that time, she continued to work in graphic arts and developing her painting skills further.
 
Cranston has always been a creative person with art and nature being her refuge. She approaches her work with just a color palette and no subject—working, layer by layer, for true spontaneity.
 
“My work is a culmination of almost 60 years of painting in all kinds of mediums and styles. After retiring, I dove back in to art full time and have found Abstract Expressionism to be the song I’ve always wanted to sing.”
