Joni Gruber’s lifelong interests in environmentalism, nature conservation, travel, and gardening have led to abstract landscapes and elements of the natural world being prominent subject matter in her work.
Gruber earned her BFA in Drawing and Painting from Ohio State University. Her artwork has been widely exhibited in solo and group shows across the US. These shows include the 47th Annual Bi-State Art Competition and Exhibition at the Meridian Museum of Art in 2021; Global Warming is REAL at the Museum of Encaustic Art in 2017; and B14, the biennial exhibition at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in 2014. Gruber was featured in Studio Visit, Volume 26, in 2014.
Joni works in her studio in Tuscaloosa, AL. Her work can be seen in the collections of the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, NM, and the The Hyde Bridge Gallery, Yeats Memorial Building in Sligo, Ireland. Her artwork also resides in private collections around the world.
